Week 75-76 December 9- 22, 2019             This will be the last blog post we are posting….we have (kind of ) looked forward for a long time, and now it is here….Bitter sweet.  Honestly, we are ready to go back home, where ever that might be, as we are homeless  😉  ( Mark and Nicole are so gracious to offer us their bedroom for several weeks. We will pack in their small apartment with 4 adults, a toddler and a 6 month old, and within a couple of weeks a 65 lb dog….It will be all good!! We are looking forward to see our children and grandchildren and extended family.  We will have to say good bye to many people who have become dear to us, our missionaries,  160 of them, and many, many people we have gotten to know over these last 18 months. We won’t start with naming individuals because we know we would forget someone.

Our Last Month in Sierra Leone.....

Week 73-74 November 25 – December 8 2019 Our last month in our mission has started….it is hard to believe. At times it feels like we just got here, at times it feels we have been gone so long….our grand children have grown so much, our grand daughter became a senior in high school, another grandson started high school, one grandson is in this last year of middle school, one grandson got baptized. Our youngest grandson we have only  met through video ( thank goodness for Skype etc ), and his brother started walking and talking while we were gone.  We started this 2 week period with a visit of Lynn and Janice Pack, our senior couple who work in the office in Freetown. They had not been in Bo yet, and Lynn wanted to make sure our new stove worked well and was worth the money, so we cooked some meals for them. The stove was approved, and we can keep it! 😉 .  We enjoyed their company. While they were here, we attended the creation of the Kenema Stake! Tom and LaDawn Kunz serve h

Week 71-72 November 11 – 24 2019 Our first days of this period was spent in Freetown for transfers. We said goodbye to three missionaries: sister Akwara, and elders Myeni and Kumire. All three of these were very powerful and great missionaries. Elder Myeni and Elder Kumire were the assistants to the President for several months. Both of them are good teachers, great listeners and very, very humble men. It is really bittersweet to see missionaries leave: they have served faithfully, we are happy for them, but it is sad to see them leave, knowing we might never see them in person again….At the end of the day, we had the privilege to meet three new missionaries. It is exciting to see them arrive, and their willingness to serve. A mission is very active, never boring; missionaries are coming and going, there are always changes and you have to be flexible and ready to adjust.

Mission Tour, Mission transfers, and lots of time on the road!

Week 69 – 70 October 28 – November 10 November: pumpkin pie, Thanksgiving Day, cold weather; the fall is probably one of my favorite seasons.. We heard it was snowing in Idaho and Utah, and like last year, it would be nice to make a snow angel, just wearing my skirt and t-shirt…That is what I am thinking now. My mind might change when the cold USA weather hits me…                                                        We will miss seeing these beautiful children.... This first week started out by preparing for our Zone Conference with Elder and Sister Nash. Elder Nash is the President of the West Africa Area. Elder and sister Nash are such a wonderful and delight full couple, they make you feel like you have them known for years. Both Elder and sister Nash taught our missionaries. Elder Nash taught about having joy in the gospel, and thus joy in sharing and teaching the gospel.  He used the term of being “riveted to Christ”. This term is very visual for me, to be conne
